About the Project

Blend

IN

When traveling, no one wants to be pinned as a tourist - especially for the wrong reasons: talking loudly, dressing differently, or simply not speaking the language. While Duo can't help with your style choices, it can help you learn what to say (and what not to say) so you're polite while you're visiting another country.

Using three of the most iconic paintings of different artists, – The Girl with the Pearl Earring , The Mona Lisa, and American Gothic – stylized like the Duolingo brand, these characters stand out in foreign settings because of their behavior.

Instead, be like their paintings and BLEND IN.

INSIGHTS

01

Travelers look like tourists when they don't know the cultural basics - not knowing how to say hello or thank you is often considered rude.

02

Looking like a tourist can often make you a target.

Blending in makes you and your experience safer.

Appeal to those who are not quite seasoned travelers, but want to respect locals and their culture.

03

Do the right thing.

Use humor to poke fun.
